Rice Bowl Recordings Releases Its First Official Record

On March 21, 2017, Rice Bowl Recordings reached its first major milestone with the release of “Eternity” by Acoustic Radio Club, the first official record published by the newly established label.
Acoustic Radio Club was the musical project of Rice Bowl Recordings co-founder Davin Duke, making the release both his debut on the label and the beginning of the Rice Bowl Recordings catalog.
At the time, the label was still operating from South Africa with a small independent structure, limited resources and a visual identity that was only beginning to take shape. Nevertheless, the release of “Eternity” transformed Rice Bowl Recordings from an emerging project accepting demos into an active record label with its first title officially available to listeners.
The original promotional material featured the label’s earliest circular logo and a simple “Out Now” campaign. Like many elements from this initial period, the artwork and presentation reflect a project still discovering its identity and building the foundations for what would follow.
Musically and technically, “Eternity” also represents the early stage of the label’s development. Production standards, artistic direction and release procedures would evolve substantially over the following years as Rice Bowl Recordings gained experience and expanded its catalog.
The importance of the record is therefore primarily historical. Every label begins with a first release, and “Eternity” established the first entry in a catalog that would later grow to include artists and electronic music from around the world.
Davin Duke remained involved with Rice Bowl Recordings until leaving the project in 2019. Since 2022, the label has been fully owned and directed by Vince Blakk, continuing its development through a broader network that now includes Blakk Digitally Music and Tulua Records.
This first release remains an authentic document from the earliest chapter of Rice Bowl Recordings and a reminder of how far the label’s music, presentation and professional structure have progressed since 2017.
